MORE THAN PAIN

The Art of Semenawa

In kinbaku, semenawa is often translated to ‘torture rope’, which suggests the administration of physical pain. But in practice semenawa is so much more than that. The art of suffering can be experienced on many different levels, and be a fulfilling and deeplyconnective activity between riggers and models.

In this workshop we explore semenawa on different planes,

and we take a deep dive into sensation and connection with our rope partner.

This workshop is designed for pairs. BYO partner and rope.

Experience level: Participants are expected to be able to tie a single column tie, have skills in basic consent negotiation, plus safety knowledge of anatomy and nerve pathways as relevant to rope bondage.

MORE THAN PAIN

BAREFOOT JULIETTE

Barefoot Juliette is an international Shibari artist and instructor based in Naarm, Australia, who has trained extensively with various Japanese and Australian Shibari teachers since 2020. She is fascinated by the many unique ways Shibari connects people through the medium of rope, in a manner that explores, transcends and challenges our pre-existing notions of what it means to relate with another human being.

Juliette’s love for consensual sadomasochism and energetic communication through rope – always tinged with a touch of the Wild Feminine - shines through in her performances and teachings.

Juliette is dedicated to the continuous deepening of her craft and enjoys helping others do the same.
